She received the French Chevalier of the Legion of Honour in 1988, and in 2004 she was eventually made a Companion of the Order of Australia. Wake served as a British clerk in France following the war until coming home to Australia in 1948. Returning to Australia with her husband in 1960, Wake again stood for parliament in 1966 without success.
