Text
At the time of Jesus, the area of what is today Israel, was controlled by Rome. It was known as Palestine back then and was the area around the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

This was called Palestine and it was a "powder keg." Generally speaking, the people of Palestine were not happy with Roman rule. Jewish revolts against Rome were common place. Many people believed in the coming of the "messiah."

There were two groups who were very influential in Palestine at this time:

ZEALOTS: Led by Judas of Galilee, the Zealots sought to rid Palestine of the Romans. They refused to pay taxes and often battled with Roman soldiers, sometimes killing innocent people in the process.
THE APOCALYPTIC MOVEMENT: This was a widespread belief in first century Palestine that the coming of the Messiah is near. As the ravages of war and revolt became widespread, any people started claiming to be the Messiah---hundreds, if not thousands of “messiahs” appeared in Palestine between 100 BCE and 100 CE. Some believed that Judas of Galilee was the Messiah. In addition, Anthronges was a shepherd who led a rebellion against king Herod. He was also seen as a Messiah by some. And then, of course, there emerged a man known only as “Jesus of Nazareth."

Answer: Israel

1)Palestine, an area of the eastern Mediterranean region comprising part of modern Israel and part of the Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip (along the Mediterranean coast) and the West Bank (the area west of the Jordan River)

2)king herod the great

Palestine was ruled by the Roman vassal king Herod the Great at the time of the birth of Jesus, who was known for his great construction projects and for his arbitrary acts and ruthlessness, which became pure paranoia towards the end of his reign.

3) Word forms: kegs of powder. Noun countable. You say that it could quickly become very dangerous if you describe a situation or a location as a powder keg.

4) The Zealots were an extremist political group whose concern for the Jewish people's national and religious life led them also to hate Jews who were seeking peace and conciliation with the Roman authorities.

The author talks about the argument that girls should have an education too. The text says, "But in the early nineteenth century, the stigma against a full education for girls was weakened. Since mothers spent more time with their children than fathers did, mothers, too, needed to be wise, worldly, and knowledgeable."

Explain the connection among nativism, assimilation, and cultural preservation.

Answers

Nativism - This is the belief that people who were born in a place should be favored instead of immigrants. For example, this used to be popular in the early 1900s, as many people thought that immigrants would take their jobs. During this time, many Chinese people were immigrating to the United States for work, but when work started to run dry, many Americans did not want them to immigrate there anymore. This then caused the Chinese Exclusion Act, which banned immigration from China.

Assimilation - This is where people of other cultures try to take in the values and culture of the majority in a society. For example, this was very prominent with African Americans and Native Americans in history. White Americans would try to assimilate African Americans, so they could be "better functioning" in society. This also happened with Native Americans, even forcing children out of their homes and taking them to boarding schools. They would then strip them of their culture by forcing them to dress differently and wear certain clothes, all to try to get them to work in society better.

Cultural Preservation - This is where culture is preserved. Culture is and has always been a very important thing to people and preserving it is important as well. This makes it so the culture can be passed on for generations to come and it will never be lost. It can be preserved by sharing your culture with others, creating things that represent your culture, preserving sacred lands that have to do with your culture, or many other ways.

~

Nativism, assimilation, and cultural preservation are connected by immigration and culture. While they are all very different in a lot of ways, as I explained above, they are brought together by culture.

Answer:

cultural assimilation is the process whereby foreign cultural aspect have been made to fit into indigenous Ghanaian culture but is the effort put forth by parents , educator and student from drives culture protect their heritage practice from disappearing because of lack of use
