PLEASE HELL ME IM FAILING!Discuss the establishment of Spanish and Anglo settlements in Texas. Your answers should include information on the
methods used by each group to settle the region, the similarities and differences between the settlements and the problems
each group faced in settling Texas.

Answers

Answer:

Anglo-American colonization in Mexican Texas took place between 1821 and 1835. Spain had first opened Texas to Anglo-Americans in 1820, less than one year before Mexico achieved its independence. Its traditional policy forbade foreigners in its territory, but Spain was unable to persuade its own citizens to move to remote and sparsely populated Texas. There were only three settlements in the province of Texas in 1820: Nacogdoches, San Antonio de Béxar, and La Bahía del Espíritu Santo (later Goliad), small towns with outlying ranches. The missions near the latter two, once expected to be nucleus communities, had been or were being secularized (i.e., transferred to diocesan from Franciscan administration), while those near Nacogdoches had been closed since the 1770s. Recruiting foreigners to develop the Spanish frontier was not new. As early as the 1790s, Spain invited Anglo-Americans to settle in Upper Louisiana (Missouri) for the same reason. The foreigners were to be Catholic, industrious, and willing to become Spanish citizens in return for generous land grants. Spain expected the new settlers to increase economic development and help deter the aggressive and mobile Plains Indians such as the Comanches and Kiowas. Mexico continued the Spanish colonization plan after its independence in 1821 by granting contracts to empresarios who would settle and supervise selected, qualified immigrants.

Explanation:

Answer:

Settled by land grantees

Spain ruled Mexico, and Texas was part of Mexico in the 1700s. France had begun to develop settlements in Louisiana. With an enemy on its eastern flank, Spain had to increase its grip on Texas. To encourage settlement, the Spanish government offered huge land grants for little or no cost to Spanish citizens and military members. Settlers that accepted often faced raids by local Indians. French settlers in Louisiana supported these raids by supplying guns and ammunition.

Over time, priests founded fewer missions in Texas than in other Spanish settlements. Spain paid for priests’ travel and materials to build the missions. The missions were promised to protect the American Indians from harsh treatment or slavery by settlers. They also were to protect American Indians from raids by other tribes. The priests brought with them irrigation systems and more intensive farming practices. They wanted to convert the Indians to Christianity and have them live and work within the mission system. But in Texas the non-European residents, both Mexican and Indian, had lived in the area for centuries. They had their own languages, their own cultures, and their own trading partnerships. They often had no love for the Spanish intruders.

What course of action did the Iroquois Confederacy take in the conflict between the British and the French?

Answers

Answer:

They sided with the British

Explanation:

The conflict between the French and British was centered around who to control the Ohio Country. Given that Iroquois Confederacy had initially won the region by conquest, they claimed the ownership of the land.

Consequently, the British also claimed that Iroquois confederacy was under them, thus, Iroquois land belongs to them. Similarly, the French laid claim to the ownership of the land. This resulted in conflicts and eventually led to a war, which was known as the French - Indian war between 1754 - 1763. Hence during the war, considering the situation surrounding the land, the Iroquois sided with the British to fought the French.

What are the characteristics of a civilization and why can that turn be problematic

Answers

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached to further context or reference, we can say the following.

The characteristics of civilization are they have cities, a form of government, the presence of religions, solid culture and art, defined social structures, record keeping of time and events, education, and the presence of certain kinds of technology that allows the civilization to prosper.

The turn of civilizations can be problematic in that the evolution of man and its social structures is not an easy task to accomplish because humans have different interests regarding politics, and power. These interests sometimes clash with each other and problems arise. There are many different versions of what is good for civilization.

The oldest civilization on earth, according to historians, is Sumeria. This civilization settled in between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in the Middle East region, modern-day Iraq.

Cattle drives were long and difficult: cowboys spent months on the trail, helping cattle to reach their destination while looking out for many obstacles. Why were cowboys and ranchers eager to meet these challenges? What motivated them to use trails to drive herds north from Texas to Kansas? Explain your answer in a paragraph of no fewer than five sentences.

Answers

Answer:

Responses may vary but should include some or all of the following motivation: The biggest factor motivating ranchers and cowboys was a chance to make a profit on selling their herds. Following the Civil War, Texas experienced a large surplus of cattle. This meant that prices were very low. However, ranchers realized that they could sell their cattle for much higher prices in railroad cities, where high demand would send these cattle to Eastern and Midwestern states. Cattle drives led thousands of livestock north to railroad towns, and ranchers made huge profits on these herds.

Write 3-4 paragraphs on the question "What makes Iba Batutta’s journey so important?"

Answers

Answer:Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Battuta was a Moroccan Muslim scholar and traveler. He was known for his traveling and undertaking excursions called the Rihla. His journeys lasted for a period of almost thirty years, covering nearly the whole of the known Islamic world and beyond. They extended from North Africa, West Africa, Southern Europe and Eastern Europe in the West, to the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and China in the East, a distance readily surpassing that of his predecessors. After his travels he returned to Morocco and gave his account of the experience to Ibn Juzay.

Early life and Career:

Abu Abdullah Muhammad Ibn Battuta, was born in Tangier, Morocco, on the 24th of February 1304 C.E. (703 Hijra) during the time of the Marinid dynasty. He was commonly known as Shams ad-Din. His family was of Berber origin and had a tradition of service as judges. After receiving an education in Islamic law, he chose to travel. He left his house in June 1325, when he was twenty one years of age and set off from his hometown initially on a hajj (pilgrimage) to Mecca, a journey that took him 16 months. He continued travelling and did not return to Morocco for at least 24 years. His journeys were mostly by land. To reduce the risk of being attacked, he usually chose to join a caravan. In the town of Sfax, he married. During his travels, he survived wars, shipwrecks, and rebellions.

He first began his voyage by exploring the lands of the Middle East. Thereafter he sailed down the Red Sea to Mecca. He crossed the huge Arabian Desert and traveled to Iraq and Iran. In 1330, he set of again, down the Red Sea to Aden and then to Tanzania. Then in 1332, Ibn Battuta decided to visit India. He was greeted open heartedly by the Sultan of Delhi. There he was appointed to the position of a judge. He stayed in India for a period of 8 years and then left for China. Ibn Battuta left for another adventure in 1352. He then went south, crossed the Sahara desert, and visited the African kingdom of Mali.

Finally, Battuta returned home to Tangier in 1355. It is questionable whether Ibn Battuta visited all the places that he described. In order to provide a comprehensive description of places in the Muslim world, Ibn Battuta probably relied on hearsay evidence and made extensive use of accounts by earlier travelers.

Ibn Battuta reported that he experienced culture shock in some of the regions he visited. The local customs of recently converted people did not fit his orthodox Muslim background. Among Turks and Mongols, he was astonished at the way women behaved. They were allowed freedom of speech. He also felt that the dress customs in the Maldives and some sub-Saharan regions in Africa were too revealing.

Death:

After the completion of the Rihla in 1355, little is known about Ibn Battuta’s life. He was appointed a judge in Morocco and died in 1368. The Rihla provides an important account of many areas of the world in the 14th century.
