Answer 1

Answer:

1) Some of the Greek Gods and Goddesses were Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Athena, Artemis, and etc.

It was said to be that each one had a different power and control over something, like Zeus is the God of skies and thunder and Artemis is the Goddess of wilderness and nature

2) The Greeks held festivals to honor their gods. Most of the time each festival would include a parade to a temple, then a sacrifice an animal of the same sex as the god being worshiped and then have a feast. They held sporting events, like the ancient Greek Olympics, to honor their gods.

3) Some Greek philosophers were Plato, Aristotle, Homer, Socrates, and etc. Socratic philosophers established four schools of philosophy: Cynicism, Skepticism, Epicureanism, and Stoicism. The Post-Socratic philosophers focused their attention on the individual rather than on communal issues such as politics.

what is a definition of the People’s Republic of China? what is the People’s Republic of China?

Answers

Answer:

People's Republic of China. The official name for mainland China, which has a communist government. People's republic basically translates that the country is for the people hence they follow a communist regime.

Explanation:

The government of China set up in 1949 after the victory of the communist forces of Mao Zedong. The People's Republic ruled the mainland of China, forcing the government of Nationalist China (see also Nationalist China) into exile on the island of Taiwan. For years, many Western nations, especially the United States, refused to recognize the People's Republic as the government of mainland China; instead, they exchanged ambassadors only with Nationalist China. The United States recognized the People's Republic as the government of China in 1979.

In March 1947 the Georgia Supreme Court ruled that Melvin Thompson was the rightful governor because he was lieutenant governor–elect when Eugene Talmadge died. In a five-to-two decision the justices ruled that Thompson would be the acting governor until a special election could be held to decide the remainder of the original term, which would have run from 1947 to 1951.

Within two hours of the court decision, Herman Talmadge left the governor's office. His apparent capitulation surprised many who thought that he might challenge the ruling. Almost immediately he began campaigning for the special election in September 1948.

In hindsight, the controversy seems almost comical, a relic of an era of Georgia politics that is long dead. At the time, however, it was a source of great embarrassment for business leaders of the state. Georgia's national reputation, already unsavory, took an even further blow.

–New Georgia Encyclopedia, 2014

Based on this passage, what was one effect of this controversy?

Georgia’s political system fell into disarray for decades.
Georgia’s political system became a model for other states.

Answers

Answer:

Industry became increasingly important to the economy of the North, while the South relied on agriculture.

Explanation:

the south relied on agriculture, which depended heavily on slaves, which is one of the reasons they were really against slavery being illegal.

the north on the other hand wanted to abolish slavery, which would be easier on them as they relied more heavily now on machines and workers. the north used to rely on slavery more, but slowly was drifting away from it, prominently during the 1850s

Answers

Quebec's national holiday also known as Saint Jean Baptiste Day shows the historical, cultural, national, religious day for Canadians.

Their celebrations are usually parades, bonfires, fireworks, feasting, drinking, flag waving, concerts, patriotic speeches and contests.

A French-Canadian businessman named Ludger Duvernay attended a St. Patrick's Day celebration in Montreal. He thought that French Canadians should organize a similar day to honour their own heritage. So he formed the Saint Jean Baptiste Society, and the holiday was first observed on June 24 of that year.

Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, official holiday of Quebec, Canada. Marks the summer solstice and honours the patron saint of French Canadians Jean Baptiste, or John the Baptist.

Which nation has a larger area of land without economic use? Why?

Answers

Answer:

tuvalu

Explanation:

A central challenge for sustainability is how to preserve forest ecosystems and the services that they provide us while enhancing food production. This challenge for developing countries confronts the force of economic globalization, which seeks cropland that is shrinking in availability and triggers deforestation. Four mechanisms—the displacement, rebound, cascade, and remittance effects—that are amplified by economic globalization accelerate land conversion. A few developing countries have managed a land use transition over the recent decades that simultaneously increased their forest cover and agricultural production. These countries have relied on various mixes of agricultural intensification, land use zoning, forest protection, increased reliance on imported food and wood products, the creation of off-farm jobs, foreign capital investments, and remittances. Sound policies and innovations can therefore reconcile forest preservation with food production. Globalization can be harnessed to increase land use efficiency rather than leading to uncontrolled land use expansion. To do so, land systems should be understood and modeled as open systems with large flows of goods, people, and capital that connect local land use with global-scale factors. tuvalu has 60% maore than most nations. Tuvalu, the tiny Polynesian island nation where 60% of the total land area is devoted to permanent crops, comes first. Second is São Tomé and Príncipe, with 40.6%. The top three is completed by Kiribati, with 39.5%.

The list is dominated by some of the world’s smaller nations, but major Asian economies Malaysia and the Philippines feature in ninth and 10th place.
